We arrived after a fairly challenging trip & found the hotel challenging to locate but the staff were super helpful & arranged a valet service even although there was no space in their own car parking facility. If you are looking for modern convenience and not necessarily old-time ambiance, this is a great hotel for you. Clean rooms. Lobby is presentable & welcoming; 4. We look forward to your next visit and stay at your complete disposal for any need. Excellent breakfast. Staff immensely helpful in every way and allowed me to use a UK/Euro plug adapter until my own baggage arrived after its rather long voyage. Shower comfortable excellent pressure and warm flow of water. Besides the free WiFi (reliable and fast) there was a computer available at any time, and what was important for me - there was a printer and a scanner ready for use 24 h. The staff was very friendly and professional. The bathroom had double washbasins, a deep soaking bathtub fitted with a large showerhead, a bidet, and toilet. Fabiana Bagnoli. There were all of the bathroom amenities (shower gel, shampoo, soap, lotions, etc.) Plus friendly helpful staff. I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience. The hotel charges €25 for overnight parking which is steep. I still recommend this hotel, because of its staff. Also we asked for feather pillows for both of us but they only gave for one person. Hotel_Direzione, Responsabile relazioni con la clientela at Best Western Plus City Hotel, responded to this review Dear Mr. CDE82, we are really sorry to receive your review. If that noise had continued, this review would be a lot worse. What was really lamentable was the complete lack of empathy of the people at the front desk about this problem. Great to have one of the the recommended most authentic restaurant in Genoa as part of it. The location is very convenient to historic center and some nice shops around the corner. Tiny lift suitable for a person and a suitcase. We had a friendly welcome on arrival and the staff throughout our stay were very helpful. Via S. Sebastiano 6 - 16123 - Genova (GE) Coordinate GPS: lat. Frankly, based on the reaction of the receptionists and the complete disinterested all that leads to only one conclusion - they were involved in the theft. The hotel was perfectly organized, perfectly clean, very comfortable. Situated in a quiet side square with a great restaurant next to it...a good find, would certainly book there again. To be fair, they compensated for their mistake by not charging for breakfast (all of 4 Euros for each of us). The lift is very small and can only really get 2 people or 1 person and a suitcase inside. Breakfast is good. The relation of value to price is also very profitable. 3. Their attitude made me wonder if perhaps the hotel is owned by the Italian State and I was dealing with public employees. We had a beautiful dinner in the hotel ( make reservation , it has a few tables) which was declicious. Professional service levels. We made reservations for our car and confirmed days before we got there. They park your car, but you could leave it at the front of the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful all in all a nice hotel for the money with a great location. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. Upon my arrival, I was warmly welcomed by a very friendly and efficient reception staff. You can see up to the sea, mountains and over the rooftops of the city of Genova. In fact it was even better than we expected. With our best regards. The hotel has a great location in the city center with easy access to most of attractions. It is modern, clean and well located. If we could remake the choice, we would opt for the additional space and beautiful views we've come to feel are "ours". This is certainly the most positive hotel stay/surprise in quite some time. Good comfortable bed with excellent pilllows (unlike many). Breakfast: good choice of products, not huge but at 8 Euro it meets expectations. Breakfast is paid separately. The breakfast was absolutely perfect have lots of food and drinks. The staff is very friendly and ready to help with all requirements. At the same time we are astonished by the tone of your review and want to distance ourselves from any accusation. About air conditioning we know end of May has been especially hot but it is true that our system does not permit to choose hot or cold; we guarantee air conditioning from June to September, as well indicated in our web pages. Great service and a Nice location for the Hotel. The reception staff behaved with us arrogant. Likewise the Volabus (transport from Airport to various stations including Brignole) bus stop is in the same place. Very close to the city center, Piazza De Ferrari is just around the corner. Rooms are clean. Our late check-in went well, we were well received and we were given a parking space in their very small and tight garage. Really loved staying here- never stayed at a Best Western as usually in the UK they're not the best. The hotel is suitable for all age groups. The staff were excellent. The breakfast was the same every day but good choice for the most needs. - Breakfast is a mixed bag. But maybe the best thing about this hotel is the staff. The hotel is centrally located Only let down and hence the 4 rating and not 5 given that I was travelling for work an iron and ironing board would have been very helpful. The hotel is very clean with a nice lobby. Hotel_Direzione, Responsabile relazioni pubbliche at Best Western Plus City Hotel, responded to this review Dear Amine, First of all we would like to thank you for your review regarding your recent stay at our property. Although I appreciate the fact that the hotel itself was not making the noise, it is common practice to have ear plugs for guests in such situations. Recently spent a week at is hotel. They also gave good practical advices concerning the touristic and also logistic part of the stay. The surrounding streets are full of the top end designer stores so very clean. L'hotel ha rifiutato di spostarmi (c'era un altro hotel affiliato a un isolato di distanza), e non aveva tappi per le orecchie. Spent two nights here after a cruise, and not disappointed. Central location, easily reached from both railway stations. The room facilities are excellent and my colleague said the gym and spa were worth a visit (I decided to stay unfit). We did not eat at the hotel any night for dinner, however I understand that the food is quite good. This hotel is in a nice spot for visiting and touring Genova. It 's a very central hotel and quite near the shopping places like Via XX Settembre, Via Garibaldi where the palacesses located and also 5 min. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this hotel. All tourist areas are easily accessed and a downhill walk of about 10 minutes or so takes you down to the water front. The decor was fresh and interesting. Otherwise, bog standard. will go back again! Convenient valet parking in the building right next door. Fantastically located, 200 meters away from Via Garibaldi, you can simply explore Genova by foot. Some of the rooms are not really having any view if you happen to get a room where the window is opposite of the next building within 2 meters. The room was cozy and comfortable. You can use your card to use the Turkish bath and all the other amenities are still free to use after 9 pm. Grace (an Asian receptionist) is indifferent & not customer-friendly. They are efficient, totally helpful, and professional. Hotel_Direzione, Direttore at Best Western Plus City Hotel, responded to this review Dear Madam, we are very sorry for what happened to you and your family, hospitality is our life and we are very sorry when something negative happens to our customers, especially in our house. Something that the video of 3 cameras proves. There is a nice electronic screen on the wall to set up the temperature but no matter how much you play with it it will never start. I can only recommend it to anyone. WiFi, just workable but slow and nit reliable. 2) On arrival at the hotel, the check in staff are always extremely pleasant and friendly, from observation English, French and German are used at the front desk. By far the best breakfast we had during our trip to Italy. This would be due to great location and the stunning views from the 6th floor terrace. Genoa really surprised us, we had a great time. The hotel is modern and very clean. We say "mille grazie" to you! I enjoyed my stay at Best Western City Hotel and I look forward to returning here on future visits to Genoa. Choice of coffee - we had cappuccino. It included champagne, salmon , waffles, etc. I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience. I was allocated rooms 621 and 620. To this day the hotel manager has not called us to apologize or ask us how we are. Excellent breakfast and a quiet and clean room! EXTREMELY helpful and hospitable check-in staff. When I got my car to back north the hotel had cleaned the car windscreen:-) I'll be back Bo Harbeck. The bathroom was well equipped and I loved that they had thought of environmentally friendly alternatives to soap and conditioner by having dispensers instead. And all for 6 euros! The showers could be a bit tight if you are very heavy, so you may wish to request a handicapped accessible shower. They have a lovely breakfast with lots of very sweet breakfast items; however the cappuccino was excellent and even though I am not a coffee drinker, I had a cup of cappuccino every morning for breakfast. Temperature of the room was too hot (even with cold weather outside) and we were told to "just open the window" if we wanted it cooler. Your words are the best reward to us. Antonella Scavino, Direttore, Michael B, Jackson, New Jersey, United States, MGrazia13_13, Berkhamsted, United Kingdom, Janelle-Ryan T, Huntingdon, United Kingdom. Recommend this Hotel!!! Moreover our staff did everything possible to support you, keeping contact with you directly, with the police and with the insurance and we are still at your/their disposal to sort out as soon as possible this extreme event. They were all fantastic, from super nice breakfast ladies, who could not do enough for us and our kid, to always helpful receptionists. Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. So 3 hours it was..... Don't ask this hotel for directions and rely on your GPS on your phone. Helpful staff. The WIFI is quick and free. If I come to Genova in the futre, I will stay in Best Western for sure. The room had a king size bed and a double bunk bed, excellent for our little children. Standing in its own court yard tributery off the main road allows additional quietness. There was an excellent choice of foods at breakfast. Very good hotel with great breakfast for a reasonable price. Simple, well-equipped, clean rooms. Everywhere was immaculately clean. Guests can relax on the beds equipped with comfortable mattresses and two pillows of different softness and wrap up in the new fragrant sponge towels. Location was amazing, walking distance to endless choices for cafes, restaurants, shops and to Porto Antico. Best price guaranteed and exclusive deals. They renovated it. We also needed a secure car park for our vehicle. Large high quality TV. The staff went above and beyond to help us. This is a great hotel. This was a great pity as I thought the hotel was excellent, the staff were very efficient and polite and there was a good restaurant and fitness facilities. 2 visits in this hotel and would for sure go for the 3rd time. Obviously our room wasn't ready but we were able to leave our bags while we went out. We booked in for one night to break up railway journeys. Very convenient for shops, restaurants and transport. http://www.ilsecoloxix.it/p/genova/2018/09/12/ADfAbkeB-negozi_apertura_vinicio.shtml We cannot propose you any room change as we were fully booked; anyway your room was higher floor, nothing would have been changed from 6th to 7th (last floor). Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future. The room was well equipped, clean, modern and tidy. Cordialmente. If you go, don't miss the breakfast, which is out of this world - and only costs Six Euro. The main attraction of the hotel is it's location, just off the main square and close to Strada Nuova and the waterfront. This is where the problems began. They also arrange you a take a way breakfast if you leave very early. As for the breakfast it is ok, but the egg water is not hot so it took 20 minutes for a soft boiled egg. The Best Western Plus City Hotel is ideally located in the center of Gênes. Great breakfast, really friendly helpful staff. Restaraurant looked plesant but not used. Their buffet breakfast was varied and delicious. Only complaint which is minor is the sweltering temperature of the reception area which is very uncomfortable while you wait to check in/out and due to it's location it can be noisy at night. The car park is not in the Hotel but quite close and it costed us 25€ per day. The bed mattress was very comfortable and the bed was fitted with standard quality bed linens. Genoa is a Mediterranean climate city; air conditioning is turned on from June to September, as well indicated on all our web pages. The menu for the restaurant on site is pretty much all sea food (unfortunately for me!) Kettle & coffee/tea making stuff. The hotel spotless, with very helpful nice staff. Rooms are fully equipped and modern. Presence of mosquitoes because we ended up opening the windows to cool the room. Excellent huge shower with standad and "rain" head. This hotel is close to many of the old town attractions. We asked the system for a hotel close to the centre and it came up with an excellent choice. Sincerely. As we discovered on our first night, you need to book beforehand at the most popular restuarants! In the lobby there are 3 cameras. The reaction of the receptionists was missing. The hotel is, however, very noisy, with doors slamming all over the place every morning. We can recommend this newly refurbished and very clean hotel without any hesitation. We are happy you are a BWR Gold Member and you get minibar free. We could only use the service elevator to go up which caused for quite a bit of confusion and frustration when we were tired and just trying to check in or get back to our room. On the positive side, its very central to everything we wanted to do and the breakfast staff were excellent with loads of choice with fresh fruit and fresh products. It only appeared to dawn on the reception staff when we checked out that they hadn't noticed our parking request! Hotel_Direzione, Responsabile relazioni con la clientela at Best Western Plus City Hotel, responded to this review Dear Alabastie, first of all we would like to thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay in Genoa. We had a great stay here. Breakfast was an extra €4 and is well worth it as there is a lot of choice and is buffet style. Your reservation was for a single room with single bed. Beautifully appointed and right in the middle of everything! Would definately visit this hotel when in Genoa again. Service at the hotel was good. This Hotel is on a good location near the city centar and has all we needed during our 2 nights stay. It is a nice hotel, very modern, good sized rooms (well ours was), clean, nice staff and in a great part of town. An excellent hotel for comfort and location. Missed having an extra blanket (probably could have rang down for one.) Multi- lingual receptionists with a humourous helpful manner. I booked this hotel, paying twice what I would normally pay, because I had business and needed to sleep before an early morning flight to Paris. I utilized the hotel's garage and the staff took my car keys and parked the car for me. Highly recommended. Overall experience was very homely. Avoid this hotel if you can because it is awful and unprofessional. Bathroom was exceptional but this was after all Italian. There is a bar opposite the hotel and it played music every night until 12am. They gave us laundry service even though we requested it three hours late. All the people working in the hotel were very kind. Parking is 25 euro. The rooms are nice for a European hotel and relatively large and modern. You are about 300 meters from the street Via XX de Setembre , were you can find well known trademarks ( H & M , Zara, etc.) We stay at your disposal for any further need and send you our best regards. The breakfast, EUR 4 extra, was excellent. The hotel manager was on holiday, until the end of our stay and then did not get in touch with us personally. There was a special going on for breakfast at an additional $1pp. Cereals, delicious yoghurts, pastries, and hot food - eggs, bacon, sausages etc. The welcome was friendly enough, but despite requesting a secure and private parking space when booking online, some considerable time before, upon arrival after a very long drive, we were told all spaces we taken. We could walk all over the city without issue. Delicious. I'd had several email exchanges with them before arriving and they were really helpful. Every single detail has been studied to make your stay more memorable. The hotel is in the middle of Genova, everything is in walking distance. Excellent . Oh yeah last but not least. The hotel is centrally located and relatively close to the major historical attractions in the city. The selection and quality of food items at breakfast was excellent, and very inexpensive. When I complained at the front desk I was told that the air conditioning is not activated until June 1st, since the system can only work giving heat or air conditioning but not both. check in was very quick and smooth. The hotel is recently refurbished and of good quality. The day will be accompanied by tasty and imaginative dishes created by our chef of Locanda PEsciolino. Great service, breakfast and amenities in room. Mille grazie a tutti --allo prossimo! Safes are in the room also. The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring the city but the little touches are missing It's quite a modern hotel and verging on the minimalist but for rooms in the 21st century to only have one plug socket in their largest room is crazy, charging phones and devices is difficult and should be easy. The location is the best to visit Genoa. We have been there at a conference and we were in the radius of walking distance to every important location. The hotel should really block rooms in this case. I was robbed at the hotel reception. The rooms are a tad small - compared to what we are used to seeing in the US; the shower and the shower door was so small - my husband had to turn sideways to go in and out as he is a tall and big guy. Hanno detto che la musica era "non il loro problema". Ho provato a chiamare alla reception per chiedere una camera diversa o per vedere se c'erano tappi per le orecchie, ma il telefono non funzionava. The room was sparse but clean. Great find from among the hotels offered from a search engine. Kids running and jumping in the room next door, seemed as if they were in MY room! The family room was a good size, very comfortable, very clean, good modern bathroom. The breakfast is the best hotel breakfast we have ever experienced. The staff, the service was perfect. Our staff speaks fluent English, French, German and Spanish. We stayed here for one night after we disembarked from a cruise we took. We hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience. Towels were plentiful and of good quality. Near the city of genova and most of the Main attractions. Excellent location just off the main piazza and round the corner from Via Garibaldi, but tucked away so it's lovely and quiet. We know and we regret your visit was not for leasure, but we are glad you've been happy with us anyway. The staff friendly and helpful. It gets a little depressing after a while. Excelent !) Clean spacious room. The hotel restaurant was superb. The Best Western Plus® City Hotel is the ideal place for your overnight stay in the ancient maritime Republic. Porto Antico is a 15 minute slow walk away. In summary the hotel scores 4/5 for a good Best Western, Room Tip: This is a better and cheaper hotel that the Best Western Metropoli which is just 50M round the corner. Major refurbishment works were taking place literally outside my door all day, from early in the morning. They said the music was "not their problem." We say "mille grazie" to you! The hotel was clean and modern, with very welcoming staff. Very close to Palazzo Ducale, shopping area and town central streets. I chose to stay in Genoa to visit Cinque Terre area. I couldn't sleep and couldn't work. Hotel_Direzione, Responsabile relazioni con la clientela at Best Western Plus City Hotel, responded to this review Dear FMD88528, Thanks for your review. Service: staff is very friendly, helpful and efficient. I cannot say much about the location for visiting the city as we did not have time to visit. Good breakfast with plenty of variety. The hotel is behind Via Roma, it is near Galeria Mazzini, the 3 Palaces, the Elevator for Spianata Castelleto, Via XX de Settembre etc.. Enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Coming again to Genova we ´certainly would stay there again! I felt I could hear everything, their coughing, flicking through the TV channels, curtains being opened and closed etc. I left my bag on the chair behind me to pull out passports to fill in the blanks. I have stayed on and off at this hotel over the last 10 years Last date of stay = 18-20th December 2016 My ongoing experience of the hotel is as follows: 1) Arrival can be a little tricky to find as the hotel is sat back off in a cul-de-sac off the VIA ROMA on via di SAN SEBASTIANO assuming you are also familiar with the unique nature of Genova's one way traffic system, if not this may present a challenge. We speak Italian English and Spanish so language isn't the barrier. Close to everything and right amongst the most expensive shops. If you are into jazz, 50 metres up the side road is the Louisiana Jazz Club - well worth a visit :-). First on the plus: 1. 4. We chose this hotel after reading excellent reviews and were not disappointed. Stayed for 2 nights mid August 2017 in a family room (2 adults, a 5yo and an 1yo boys). On the negative side - Upon arrival the lady receptionist refused to acknowledge that we had paid for Bed & Breakfast and charged us for breakfast although we had paid for it when we booked. Being Gold or Platine status doesn't help for getting upgraded or having a nicer room, but not sure they have nice rooms. That said the following two nights I didn't hear anything at all. Upon arrival the room you had been assigned was not cleaned yet and you are offered other one. We stay at your disposal for any future need and send you our best regards. It is a modern hotel with reasonable sized rooms, many good restaurants very near. They are polite, cheerful, helpful and very efficient. It was a very pleasant stay with excellent staff. the Carlo Felice theatre, the museums in Via Garibaldi, the San Lorenzo Cathedral, Palazzo Ducale and the Aquarium. Stayed for 3 night in October room 625, the room was spacious, well equipped, clean and had a lovely balcony. All ok only question if I wanted Parking. Not great. The morning coffee and panettone are the finest! Unfortunately for me bathroom was only bad bit - no soap (or shampoo). Nice large, comfy bed. Our room was nicely decorated and the comfort of the bed (and pillows) were among the best we have had in a hotel, and it was really appreciated to have a kettle and teas/ coffee in the room. We arrived late at night just to spend the night as a stopover on our journey from Florence to Nice so we did not get to experience much of the hotel or the city. Only unfortunate issue with this hotel is the elevator on the right corner...very very small, could only fit 1 adult and 1 child in a pram (barely)...we were given a family room on the top floor which was very spacious, had an exquisite view of the town from above and a big balcony..i found some time to relax with a book at the balcony and believe me...the view was second to none! The walk to the harbour is quick and easy, the metro stop is a minute away and the shops right near by. Once again the staff were helpful and understood we were travelling to Sicily so allowed us to remain in the hotel with our luggage secured until the time of departure of the ferry. We left the car parked for the duration of our stay and choosing to walk everywhere. Thank you Best Western Plus of Genoa. Our compact double room was clean, modern and fully equipped. I was also surprised at the lack of cornetti/brioche for an Italian hotel. Breakfast was an interesting mix of cuisines to satisfy most palates although some of the hot-plated foodstuffs were past their best. Anyway all the facilities of this one (with one exception) exceeded expectations. The spa is small but there is a jacuzzi, a Turkish bath, a sauna. The only negative was that the room was quite warm and the air conditioning is only available in the summer months. This was late May in Italy, and not exactly a typical warm spring day, however, it was impossible to sleep that night due to the high temperature inside the room. This will always be the most economic hotel in Europe. The breakfast was quite good, good value for money. The air conditioning is a must after a day out in the heat and humidity! Otherwise, the hotel was comfortable and clean. Good breakfast buffet and quiet rooms. We are really sorry about inconvenience with wheelchair, but our Hotel is no absolutely suitable for disabled and if you read or ask for it we never give availability in that case. The staff always was ready to assist and most had a good knowledge of English. VG breakfast at EUR 6! We are glad you appreciated our location, room and breakfast. 4 stars hotel in Genoa (GE) Rating of 4.5/5 based on 1544 reviews. There was a shop new opening event authorized by the municipality. Taxi driver was very nice and took us to our hotel for under 15 euro. You don't need the universal adapter. The hotel had these wooden window slats on the glass windows which made much noise from the music. The shower was a bit of issue if your size 12 then your fine but the door to the shower cubicle is quite neat. It is located in a small square just off the smart via Roma. This hotel has the probably best ever breakfast buffet. Tuttavia la musica di fuori dall'hotel di notte (a partire dalle 22:00 in poi) era così rumorosa e ravvicinata che i finestrini stavano scuotendo. Couldn't be better Nice rooms Fine gym Great relax/spa area with sauna, Turkish bath, spa and relax room Free coffee/ tea over the stay. Would definitely come back to Genoa again and would definitely come to this hotel again. It was very quiet (New York take notice!). However, the room we had was super tiny and was facing a building, which completely prevented natural light. Fridge. Best Western Plus City Hotel of Genoa is where I will stay every opportunity I get. The only thing was that it was fairly warm and we would have preferred that the air-conditioning be turned on. We have recommended gluten-free restaurants listed on a specific site, we are very sorry that you did not find there the promised gluten free menu! Your reservation was for a single room with single bed. Staff is very helpful. In the words of Tom Ford, I feel f@#ing fabulous! very easy to reach all the nice part of the city centre and to the public transport. Great location very well appointed and comfortable room, and one of the most all-encompassing breakfast buffets we have ever experienced.
